Our story

Hi, I'm Leon Lutters and I'm the founder of Metal Animal. The idea for the metal animals originated from a great passion for nature. And a little practical problem… Because many of the animals we all love so much don't show up so easily.

From beekeeper to webshop

In addition, I have been a beekeeper for years. My garden is unfortunately not big enough to keep bees. But the wicker beehive that sometimes stood empty in my front yard after catching a swarm of bees often resulted in nice conversations. During these conversations, it turned out that other outdoor enthusiasts love nature animals as much as I do.

I've been a beekeeper for years. A reed beehive that beekeepers used to keep a colony of bees served as the inspiration for the first metal object. Designed by an artist associated with our company. Several designs soon followed.

We even liked the design of the squirrel so much that he was allowed to walk over our logo.

 

The first corsten steel animals were made in May 2021. From the first "test animals" we received very nice reactions. This stimulated the expansion of the webshop into the complete shop it is today. I hope that this will allow many more people to bring the animals from nature closer to home!
